Finding a job is likely one of the first things you’ll do when you get to America.  Here are some tips to help you find the job you want.

Ask Friends and Family

Don’t hesitate to ask your friends and family for advice and recommendations about finding a job!  Most people find the job they want through a recommendation from someone they know.

Use the Internet

Use the Internet to help you find jobs, connect with employers, improve your resume, get career advice and more.  The most popular websites for finding a job include www.monster.com, www.hotjobs.com and www.careerbuilder.com.

Read the Newspaper

Check the “classifieds” section of your local newspaper for a list of jobs, particularly craigslist.

Prepare your Resume

Many employers will ask you for your resume, or “cv”, which is one-page list of your educational and occupational history.  Check out samples of real resumes.
